I am usually skeptical to try a new Mexican restaurant due to my high standards. Walking in, not knowing what to expect......it's hard not to judge a place. But heck....it's human nature to judge anyways, right? My husband, mother in law and I sat outside on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The outdoor seating was nicer than the indoor. Plus sitting outside was a bonus because you can enjoy the fountain. We were served waters, chips and menus immediately. They were also making fresh Salsa and homemade tortillas outside. They brought us a large variety of salsa and home made tortillas to our table in addition to the chips and house salsa. We ordered our food. The turn around time was about 15 minutes. Not bad for a busy Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed my meal. My mother in law enjoyed her. My husband is a nacho fanatic. And the nachos unfortunately didn't hold up to his standard. All in all.....I am definitely going back! This time I had fish tacos. Who know what next time will have in store.

I've been pretty happy with this place. Their house margaritas are seriously among the best I've ever had! The fish tacos were really good too! My son loves his nachos and hubby enjoyed his combo platter. This is a nice "let's not cook tonight" place to enjoy.

Mediocre food, uncaring and slow service. We got seated outside and waited 5 minutes; no one came to get our orders, so I had to go inside and ask for assistance. After our orders were taken, it took over 40 minutes to get the food out. I had to ask several times where the food was and we didn't even get a discount on the slow service. Save yourself the time and frustration and skip this insipid place. Update: After being charged for the wrong tab, I hit my limit. I went in and told them I wasn't paying. A male manager or owner waived my meal. Still didn't make up for it.

I still like their food but whenever you use a coupon they never discount it for the proper amount. They will also discount a kids meal as the free meal if it is buy one get one free so be careful and split the bill or something to avoid this.

I am from Texas and love Mexican food. Since moving out here a few years ago I am always looking for mexican food that reminds me of home, and this was it. The beans and rice tasted fresh and lighter than most. I had a lunch taco plate and the meat was tender and nicely seasoned. The salsa bar had some good choices and the hot salsa was actually hot for a change. Since we came for lunch during a work day I was concerned about timeliness of the food being delivered but was quick and hot. You have to take every review with a grain of salt I suppose but I enjoyed it and the folks serving us were nice.

Tortilla soup, wow, very delicious with the right amount of salt. Like Fridays with the hand made tortillas and live guitar music!

Just finished the $8 lunch special which includes a soft drink. Chips, a tiny cup of salsa roja, and a cup of refried beans brought to the table first. Lunch plate is a good sized portion. My order: chile relleno with side of beans & rice, miniscule slice of tomato. Other menu items are the usual Cali-Tex-Mex suspects. Burritos, tacos, enchiladas. You know the drill. Quality: Just average. Let's grade on a curve: If La Texanita on Sebastopol road scores 100%, Tres Chiles scores 75%. Dining room has modicum of Mexican décor. A little cheesy and time worn. Nice people serve and cook. If you're in the neighborhood and hungry for Mexican, do stop in. But it's not worthy of a long drive.

Salsa Bar. Salsa Bar. Salsa Bar. And HUGE micheladas! What more can a girl ask for? This place is VERY good! The staff is so friendly and make the experience a ton of fun. Also, the owner is always experimenting with new dishes so there's always something new to try! Don't forget to have the avocado salsa (different than guac) and take a look at the MONSTER burrito that they have on the menu... it will blow your mind. I mean, this thing is Man Vs. Food worthy. My only reason for 4 stars is that their chicken isn't my favorite of every where I've tried. I prefer a little more crisp with my pollo asado. Not the end of the world though.

I enjoy this place for the atmosphere, the delicious dishes, and the homemade tortillas on the weekends. The fish tacos are good, as are burritos, arroz con pollo, and the typical fare. My favorite dish, however, the one I crave, is the chicken chipotle. Wow! It is really good. Tender chicken, peppers, onions, all in a creamy, smoky Chipotle sauce. The service is friendly, and it's nice to sit outside to enjoy your meal. Good selection of beers, too.

Carne Asada super burrito amojado = YUM! The quality and freshness of the steak was excellent. Seemed like it was cooked fresh. The pieces were thick and the flavor was excellent. The salsa was delicious and the enchilada sauce was good. Definitely on par with Mi Pueblo from a quality and flavor perspective. A bit pricey however at almost $10 for a super burrito!

  • Angela D.

Fresh homemade salsa bar. On the weekends they have a lady making hand-made tortillas out front that taste phenomenal! Sometimes service can be a little slow but the food is worth the weight. I especially love the Chimichanga Loca... How can you go wrong with something wrapped in bacon?! Their meat, especially the lingua is always tender and well seasoned. This is our go to place when we get a craving for some Mexican food.

Ya know, I just wanted a couple of tacos and they gave me a whole meal at the price of a meal. It was good and their service was really good. It was all good because they really try hard, but I didn't really like the bean flavor or the fish in the fish taco. The steak platos was very generous and my sweetie said the steak was very tender, Maybe it's because I'm not really into Mexican food that I was disappointed. However I love the fish Taco's at a different place across the street because their fish is so tasty. So, if you want a hardy meal and want to pay for one, I suppose this is OK. I would call it a restaurant, not a Taqueria. A for effort. C for flavors.

Yea, they have Clausthaler! Switched recently to non alcoholic beer. That and maybe my salad every day, and more workouts (daily) and I'm 15 lbs lighter. Really like their food and festive atmosphere. Los Tres Chiles is one of the best Cocinas Mexicanas in Santa Rosa. Don't tell everybody, it'll be too crowded. Remember the words of Yogi Berra, "It's too crowded nobody goes there."

I don't know but I think this place is slipping - the service was slow, the music too loud and the Super Nachos were anything but Super - we are seriously thinking of not going back. Bummer!

This is a very good place for Mexican food but do not come here on cinco de mayo I understand all Mexican food restaurants will be busy on this day but my experience was waiting an hour and 25min for an appetizer and two burritos which all came at the same time which I was expecting the appetizer first. I literally almost left because I was so hungry and was starting to feel sick from waiting so long to eat. The waitress never came by even once during the hour and a half we were waiting for our food, people in the tables next to us were getting their food faster than us. I will never come back on cinco de mayo.

Just ate at Los Tres Chiles and while the food was good the service was not great. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are "kids eat free" nights. Tonight is a Tuesday so my wife and I decided to take our two kids (3,7) to have dinner. I ordered a chili relleno burrito,my wife a combo, and the kids two items off the kids menu. I also asked for guacamole and pico de gallo in the burrito. When it arrived everything was good. My burrito didn't have the guacamole or pico but it was tasty. The bill arrived and it was $40. I asked the server about the kids eat free and he said it was Tuesday and apologized. I mentioned the lack of guacamole (and the additional $2 I was charged for it) and he went to ask the cook. Keep in mind I'm standing there as four employees converse in Spanish about my burrito. The server says that the cook put guacamole in the burrito but no pico. Since they don't charge for pico anyway there is nothing to take off. He then says he is giving me a $9 discount. I said ok and went to sign the bill. After looking at it the kids meals were $11 alone. I asked why they weren't removed and he said the maximum value of "kids eat free" is $9. Of course there is nothing on the giant "kids eat free" sign at the front of the restaurant. At the end of the day I paid $2 for non-existent guacamole and another $2 for "free" kids meals. The bottom line is that I felt like the service was sneaky and the promotion was not completely true. While they have good food I will not be eating here again and will be quick to share my story with others.

Great food and wonderful service! I usually get the combination plates, always very good. The Bennett valley combination is huge and yummy! Most entrees come with your choice of soup or salad. The tortilla soup is great. The people that work there are always very nice.

My family and I have been here several times, and I can gladly say we have loved it every time! The staff has always been friendly and every dish we have tried has been great. We moved to Santa Rosa almost 2 years ago, and this has become our go to restaurant for good Mexican food. The Tortilla soup is incredible, especially if you're feeling a little under the weather. My wife and I crave it if we feel a sickness coming on. We will continue going back without any hesitation! No real tequila margaritas would be my only complaint, but the state of CA doesn't always make getting a full liquor license the easiest. Regardless, the food is definitely worth a visit.

This place has 4 star food and 3 star service. The main server was really nice and she gave good service. There was one guy there that should not be a server. He tried taking our order then walked off when we had a question about the soup. I almost felt like I was in the Seinfeld nazi soup kitchen episode when our order taker walked off. This place would have gotten a two stars if the new server didn't recover. Siete mares soup was really tasty. They used rock crab claws instead of dungeoness crab so it was a little difficult to crack. The prawns were cooked perfect and sliced down the back. The large guacomole was good. Their fresh chips and 5 varieties of salsa were decent. The veggie veggie burrito was good. This place has potential. Will I come back? The taqueria across the street has better food and service... so no.

This is a decent little spot in the neighborhood. The staff is friendly enough and they make house made tortillas on the weekends. The usual dishes are pretty solid; carne asada tacos, chile verde, carnitas; all are pretty good here.

Delicious cheese enchiladas and crispy chips. The boys loved their grilled chicken burritos. Although I haven't had any for awhile, I am pretty sure they make delicious handmade corn tortillas on the weekends.

Good food, good service! The place always seems empty when I'm here an I don't know why, as I've been in there on different days of the week and both for lunch and dinner. They give you chips salsa and refried beans which is a huge plus. Their happy hour isn't bad either. A few good beers on tap. They have a burrito eating challenge where you can actually win money. I've yet to do it but plan on it soon. The burritos are good, and I've never had a bad experience. I will continue to eat there.

My husband and I were wandering about this shopping center as my car was at the 76 station (great place also). We stopped in here for lunch while we waited. I got the California burrito (french fries inside it) and it was delicious. The waitress and the busser were super nice and attentive. Also, great pricing. That burrito lasted me 2 days, lol.. It won't take a broken car to get me back here. =D

I wish I could give them zero stars. Showed up tonight with two other families -- Given we were a large group I was worried about the wait but they got us seated within about 20 to 25 minutes. In terms of experience the wait to get seated was the highlight of the evening After being seated the long wait for the server started. She came by for drink orders and eventually those showed up then the food ordering occurred. Then we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. I sort of lost track of time but I think it was 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our order. By this time the kids were collapsing, breaking down into tears due to lack of food. They kept on coming by and saying 'it's coming' -- Which, I guess, was technically not a lie. It did (sadly) eventually come. The kids meals were burnt, my carnitas was flavorless. They could tell we were stressed and said 'is everything ok' -- When I pointed out that we were unhappy due to the long wait and the quality of the food the waiter said "oh, I'm sorry" and that 'there were a lot of take out orders' and basically walked away (?) Wait staff and management staff -- since you don't seem to understand how to restaurant let me give you a few pointers. 1) manage expectations. If it is going to take more than an hour for people to get their mexican food give them a heads up so they can perhaps chose other options. 2) Don't come by and say "it's coming" if you have no idea when it will show up -- Belive it or not being lied to doesn't help. 3) When customer complain try to make it right for them. There are lots of ways of doing this.. a shug and saying "i'm sorry" and walking away is not the best approach. 4) Make food your are proud of. The food was bad to mediocre. i will never, ever come back to this restaurant.

I found raw chicken in my chimichanga. Enough said. Our waiter was very rude after I said I had raw chicken in my food and was talking back to me trying to tell me that it was just a tomato. She even grabbed my fork and started going thru my food right in front of me and other customers.

Best Mexican in Santa Rosa (and my wife is Mexican-American, so we've tried a lot of them). Food is excellent, portions generous, service very strong. I especially love the fajitas. Nice outdoor option, too, in good weather.

I went to this place with a few friends the weekend before last. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was especially delicious! I ordered the carnitas plate and wow, was it good. I particularly enjoyed the homemade corn tortillas, which were so fluffy and flavorful! I don't typically like beans, but the refried beans here were addicting. The rice was good too. Both of my friends ordered burritos. Although I enjoyed the burritos themselves, I wasn't a fan of their enchilada sauce they put on top... but everything else was superb. I'd definitely come here again!!

We went for a date night and I loved it! I used the $8 off coupon for two entrees (back of my Safeway receipt), which made it a great deal. I love their tortilla soup. I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, and they were AMAZING. I like that they have the option of whole beans rather than just refried. The salsa bar is nice, too.

I was really upset today when I went here on my lunch break with my boyfriend and I ordered what we normally get because we share our food we order one meal. This time they told us that we couldn't share because its too cheap. The Guy was very rude about it and had no customer service skills. I will not be going back

Was visiting Santa Rosa over the weekend, found this place. The bean dip they serve with chips was really good. I ordered the basic Taco combination. Tacos were really good. Also ordered the Ceviche, I'm pretty picky about the dish but was impressed, it was really good. Service was also good. I'll definitely be going back when in the area.

I am not going to go into too much depth as I don't feel this restaurant deserves it. My time is better spent else where so I will make this quick. My girlfriend and I used to go here and enjoyed it each time. We always went at lunch time and ordered the same thing. One day we went there for lunch and ordered what we always had and out of nowhere were told that we were no longer allowed to split our meals?!?!? I asked the guy how he thought he had the right to tell us how to split our food and he couldn't answer me intelligently. He resorted to rambling and repeating the same sentence over and over "can't split, can't split." I have no idea what changed, but it rubbed me the wrong way. We did nothing but give this place praise and suggest it to anyone we talked to about mexican food. Now it is the complete opposite and I never mention them and if I do it is telling people to avoid this place at all cost as the customer service is non-existent. Good luck los tres chiles.

I go here quite often for their Burrito Grande. It's the best wet super burrito I've ever had, period. I recommend getting it with the green sauce and carnitas. Used to come with Chicken Tortilla Soup, but now that's an extra, which is a little bit of a disappointment. My wife and I usually just order take-out, but eating at the restaurant is enjoyable too. They give warm beans to dip with the chips and salsa in addition to having a salsa bar. Service is good, and the atmosphere is pretty much what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. I absolutely recommend this place!

My wife and I went there on May 4th and the meal would have been near-perfect if not for the fact that a busload of peeps showed up just as we were being served our dinner. We were sitting in the middle of the dining room which was right in front of the bar area so she was too crowded to eat comfortably due to the bodyheat that was all around us and whatnot. I gobbled my food down (three pollo asado enchiladas, rice and beans) and it was excellent but she took her mocahete to go. The fact that it got so crowded was not the owner's fault and they were all so very apologetic about the crowdedness. That was very kind of them but there was no harm done. We went back on Cinco De Mayo and I ordered their super (pollo asado) burrito and my wife got something called Pollo De Jessica. We were both VERY pleased! The burrito was huge and covered in a wonderful red sauce (mild but tasty) and melted cheese. It's one of the best burritos I've had in years. My wife's plate was a boneless breast of chicken (good-sized, too) accompanied by mushrooms and onions (I think), all of which was covered in a creamy white wine sauce. She LOVED it and I tried one of the mushrooms with some of the sauce and I, too, thought it was wonderful. All four of our meals (the two nights we went) came with soup or salad which is something that very few Mexican restaurants and taquerias around here offer. Their chips are fresh and hot and they have a salsa bar. Their refried beans are superb and they have some of the best rice around. My only minor complaint is the wait for the food. The service is attentive and friendly, but sometimes the cooks appear to get overwhelmed. But that is only because they are so busy which is the sign of a restaurant that has cooks who prepare DELICIOUS tasting food so I can live with this. We will DEFINITELY be going back there and I'm hoping soon! I'd probably give the place a 4.5 star rating if YELP had half-star ratings but since YELP doesn't yet allow that I will say that (in my opinion) the place is closer to five stars than four stars so I'm giving them a five-star rating!

It's about time I reviewed this place I call "home" most Friday evenings. My boyfriend and I usually walk over after work for a pre-weekend celebratory Modelo Epecial and dinner. I've had their chicken regular burrito, veggie burrito and veggie-veggie burrito and can honestly say they are all delicious. I also sometimes get a equally-as-yummy chicken tostada, fish tacos or carnitas meal. But just recently, I decided I wanted fajitas, so I ordered the chicken fajitas with their homemade corn tortillas and they were the BEST. FAJITAS. EVER. Holly crap!! My boyfriend gave mine a try and shared the same response. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and the vegetables were perfection. We love Vicente, the gentleman with the beautiful voice who serenades with his guitar, and all of the people that work there. I highly recommend this restaurant :0)

I used to love this place when it first opened with its great bar, food, and mamosa special on the weekends until 1. I was served a burrito that had a piece of brillo in it for which I assume was left on a grill or something. When I brought it their attention they acted in complete denial. Not only did they offer nothing, but they did not honor the coupon I presented. 2. Yes, I gave them another opportunity after several months and still feeling the sub-par performance. My guest had several very od large peices of white stuff in his chicken enchillada. When we brought it to the managements attention they claimed it was grissle from the meat or chorizo and is normal. He picked out more than 4 chunks from a small enchillada and also got very sick later and the next day. I have cooked in many restaurants and never served any type of grissle and if a guest brought something they dislike to my attention I would straight offer a replacement or discount. Not only do they not accept that the food may have an issue, or give a customer the benefit of the doubt but they make you feel if you are right about being unhappy with something you are going to have to cause a scene. I will not refer anyone here ever. Such a shame they are choosing to go down hill. I will ensure everyone knows how unhappy I am with their service and care. Do not be fooled. Be afraid. Can they earn me back. Never.

The best mexican food in Santa Rosa. The chips are crispy and light; the salsas (green and red) are really good. The shredded beef tacos were equally tasty. I gave this place five stars, but don't expect fancy. It's average looking/feeling. The food, however, is head and shoulders above any mexican restaurant in the area.

I think the last time I went to Los Tres, I was accidentally given a super burrito rather than the grande, because I went back last Sunday for lunch, and the burrito was HUGE again. So, Perhaps the previous encounter was just a flop. I'll definitely be back again and again, especially since the owner contacted me and tried to make the experience right.

    (4)
  • Erin M.

Maybe my hopes were a little too high after reading the reviews for this place, because I had a mixed experience. The chips were excellent, the man who took my order (the owner) was very friendly, and the chicken "super burrito" (they don't have a "regular burrito") was a good size and the flavor of the chicken was good enough. However, with a name like "Tres Chiles" I expected more from the salsas. I took my order to go and so it came with one red and one green salsa, but I found them to be pretty lacking in flavor. That was pretty disappointing for me because I love salsa. Overall, if I'm in the mood for Mexican food, this place would be nowhere near the top of my list because there are definitely better places in Santa Rosa. But for the fact that is conveniently located to my home, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. That said, if I get a craving and don't feel like driving far, I would probably go back. But I'd definitely spring for the extra buck to get pico, guacamole and lettuce that comes in the "giant burrito."

Service was exceptional. Salsa average to below at best. Steak was not seasoned at all and hard as a rock. They do not serve hard alcohol big bummer. I could live with most of it except the hard steak but they are making the same mistake as many other restaurants do. What is it? You know when your sponge gets a little foul and you put it up to your nose and realize you had been cleaning with a rotten molded smelly sponge. Well sit down and enjoy the reek of moldy sponge so overpowering that your meal has this distinct flavor to the point of a little wheezing. I don't know what is worse when an establishment has people spraying cleaning towels so the whole place smells of cheap cleaner or the moldy smell left behind. fortunately this place only had the moldy smell. Easy to fix with some simple proper hygiene retraining of staff but the hard part is getting the chef to season the meat and not overcook. Chevy's next time

Avoid this place for several reasons! 1) Service is terrible. Youll wait forever to be served along with the food actually coming to your table accurately, and when all of your table says they got it wrong the waitress will not apologize and still say it wasnt her fault. 2) If you like burritos, this is not the place to go. All filler no killer. Ive gone and broken down the burrito to find six pieces of meat with about two pounds of rice beans and veggies, all for around $11. Only plus are their chips, salsa and specialty items, all of which are also overpriced. Hard to say but Los Altos is the better mexican restaurant in bennett valley, but not by much. Better off at high tech burrito or even taco bell :P

"Hello my friends." Los Tres Chiles was a nice surprise. I ordered the Lunch Special with a Chile Relleno and a Tostada. Mountainous amount of food. It was pretty cool. And it tasted good to boot. And low and behold, they actually served me carnitas that didn't have an ounce of fat on them. That is obviously a feat for Mexican restaurants. Well done my friends.

This place is just around the corner and down the block from us so we thought we'd give it a try. (Like another reviewer, we no longer frequent the taqueria across Yulupa from this restaurant because we also had too many issues there.) The chips and salsa are very good! The service was also very friendly. Although this is a Mexican restaurant, we do appreciate interacting with wait staff who have a good command of the English language and who is able to answer questions, then take special requests and follow through as ordered, so props to the wait staff here! Our food: Our salads (green salad / blue cheese) were very fresh and cold, not wilted or browning like we see in so many places these days. Very good. My wife wanted to try the taquitos for a meal, so she ordered shredded beef. The taquitos, were a bit drippy in oil (took a bite and oil dripped out all over) and the beef was very bland. Granted, my wife doesn't really like too much spice (heat) in her food but it wouldn't have taken very much to add a little bit of salt and pepper to the mixture that was put inside. This was a shame. I had a super burrito al pastor. It was pretty good sized and came wet with a red sauce poured over it. Like my wife, I felt that it was a little bit bland. The beans inside didn't really have a lot of flavor and seemed like perhaps they came out of a Rosarita's can. There were a lot of beans and the al pastor flavor was very masked or not very flavorful at all, sadly. I really love a good al pastor! I see that they have a paella on the menu and I'd really like to try it but I don't know if I want to spend $18 on paella and have it be a big bland disappointment. Over all, I've had worse (much worse) and I've had better. Lost Tres Chiles is kind of a middle of the road Mexican restaurant that didn't really thrill or disappoint too badly. We'll probably go back and give them another try for dinner some time. They're better than a 2 but not really a 3, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and round up to a 3 for this visit.

I've only eaten there twice because it is way out near the end of Yulupa Avenue but I was VERY pleased both times we (the wife and I) ate there. I had a pollo asado burrito the first time and it was quite pleasing in size AND flavor. If you like burritos, give this place a try. The second time we went there I had the pollo asado enchiladas and they were SUPERB! Great sauce and the chicken was incredible. The rice and beans were seriously good, too. My wife likes their fajitas, too. We'll definitely be going back there when we are in the area!

We had enjoyed dining here many times- but lately- the food has been below standards. My husband ordered the California Burrito- it tasted old- there was no meat ( supposed to have ground beef)- the fries in the burrito were stale - my husband had awful indigestion that night. Sadly, we won't be returning.

5 stars? Really? We went on a Friday evening and waited for almost 1 hour before the food arrive. The seafood Paella was inedible. The crab, mussels, and clams were not fresh, and the rice is soupy. What an awful experience.

This place rocks I have now been here twice and it is EXCELLENT . I felt guilty not rating it and have been there twice and it being so fantastic. I have eaten a chicken taco and also a chicken chimichanga. I guess you can say I am a chimichanga expert and I can say there is no one in sonoma county who can compare to the fresh and unique taste to this places food. The service was good to with a staff that is concerned with your needs . I went with friend the first time and experienced a live music night . Good music , good food and looked liked family was making home made tortillas out front . The second time I took my wife who is a harsh critic and she LOVED the place so good job to Los Tres Chiles we will be back for another yummy meal !!!!!!

Considering that I live in Texas I'm very biased to good Mexican Food. So far while I've been in Santa Rosa visiting my dad I have yet to find a good place until today. Everything here was done to perfection, friendly waiters and waitresses, the restaurant was very clean and organized and the food was wonderful. I had a two item combination with a cheese enchilada and chile relleno. By far the best two items I've had anywhere in Santa Rosa, my dad had the grande tostada with carne asada. The meat was some of the most flavorful and tender that I've had at a Mexican Restaurant. I also enjoyed their salsa bar and chips. The only negative I could find is their margarita's could use just a bit more tequila but then again I do know that good tequila isn't cheap so this really isn't a problem. I will definitely be going back while I'm still in town and will be recommending Los Tres Chiles to all my friends!

I loved this little hole-in-the wall Mexican place crammed in a nice courtyard setting between Starbucks and Safeway when it first opened earlier in 2012 but today, after my 5th time eating there, I'm changing my mind. The food is still good - very good, in fact - but the service has really taken a dive. If they had told us (party of 2 arriving at 12:00) that we'd have to wait quite a bit for our food due to preparations they were in for a huge take-out order, I would have happily gone to another restaurant and returned to Los Tres Chiles another day, but NO. They seated us, took our order and disappeared. Ten minutes later I asked politely "Where's our order and was told, It's coming right up!" and he pointed at the kitchen. 15 minutes later - no food - and I was given the same answer, with a "sorry, we're handing a big take-out order. Your food's coming right up. 15 minutes LATER (now a total of 40 minutes), I asked again - still managing to be polite. My friend and I were ready to walk out when the food finally came. Luckily, the food's still good, but the dishonest approach to serving time means I will not go back there again.

I work right next-door to this place and I regularly go there for lunch. Sometimes breakfast! They are reasonably priced as well. The staff is nice and they are willing to take in my phone order two hours ahead. They were excellent went I went in with my family and treated the kids with an open mind and worked with all our little personality quirks and preferences. I ha e customers ask me if they are good and I highly recommend them. On a regular basis other customers answer the quest with high praise as well.

Service was excellent, but thought the meat could have used a lilttle seasoning in my burrito. The portions were huge!

Good food. Service could be a little quicker but very nice people just a little pricy compared to other Mexican restaurants.

Excellent service, close to home!! The service and food go hand in hand!! It feels very comfortable! I love the shredded beef full of flavor and not salty. Again a family owned business that makes you feel like apart of their family.

Santa Rosa.... Seriously? This is the best mexican food on offer? In a city filled with a large and vibrant Latino population I would expect more from the mexican food scene. The food is your standard Azteca/generic/canned/watered down "mexican". The meal we consumed (pork and chicken tamales, a cheese relleno and a chicken enchilada) could have been served anywhere in the US- a truck stop in Maine, a random diner in Tulsa... even that frat-boy run poophole 2 blocks from Notre Dame in Indiana was better. The two stars are for the staff, who were polite and speedy and kept our water glasses full. The ambience was generic as well- Strip Mall USA. The notable exception to the blah, flavorless and un-impressive meal were the chips, which were light, crispy and hot. The accompanying salsas were edible.

Yuk! Chicken mole special was greasy. Chips were too hard. Meatball soup was too salty. 1 star for friendly, accommodating staff who made my sons taco the way he wanted it. I really wanted to like this place since it's right by my house. It's too bad.

Heard that some employees from Las Guiterraz opened this restaurant so had to check it out.. plus they did a dine & donate for my daughters school so had to go... same yumm chips and bean dip as LG... same yumm salad...my dinner was good.. they have a full bar with tvs.. I like the big booths by the windows... lots of tables... only down fall is I have to drive to Santa Rosa from Rohnert Park but not too bad of drive if I go over Crane Canyon Rd... its on Yulupa next to Safeway... I will be back!!

Excellent beer selection. Food is good if you pick the right options. HUGE portions. I love the Chile Verde. BEST PART: 16oz beers for $3.50, $4.50 for 24oz. ALL YOU CAN DRINK $5 MIMOSAS on weekends, with a pretty decent breakfast selection. We must have been at least 20 times by now, and we love the owner and all the servers are great. Nice patio where you can bring the dog and sit out and enjoy good Mexican and excellent beer. I love the window booths that are slightly elevated. CONS: If you don't get the window booths and it's too cold for the patio, the remainder of the seating is a little bleak.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant here in Santa Rosa! We live minutes from it in Bennett Valley. This spot has had a problem keeping a restaurant, this one seems destined to do well. It is family run and the menu shows of personal receipes. I love the fresh chips and salsa. We have been pleased with the service and value. Do yourself a treat and give this place a try. Everyone we have taken here loves it.

I think this place is getting better the longer they are in business. They have a great salsa bar and bottomless mimosas on Saturday and Sunday. I always get the huevos rancheros for brunch and always leave satisfied. And my aunt swears by their just plain ol' house salad. On a nice day you can sit outside by the water fountain, and if you have a dog they can join too. I think the prices are pretty good.

Their food is really good. I was surprised to get bean dip, salsa and green salsa for our chips! The green salsa is to die for!. We had Chile Relleno and it was delicious! I've eaten there twice now.

Ok, but not noteworthy. Food was tasty. Not exactly authentic. Atmosphere was pretty bland and it felt like we were the only ones in the place. Maybe because we were for most of the time. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Are you kidding? This is NOT authentic Mexican food. Canned refried beans and salsa. Watery salad with canned corn? The shredded beef and carnitas were lean and cooked well but flavorless. We had to ask for Tapatio to doctor the food. The service was pretty good considering there was only one server for the whole place. They get an extra star for having Mexican beer on tap but not good enough for another visit. Too bad 'cause it's a cozy little spot.

Good authentic Mexican food with very personable and friendly staff. Portions are very large and their chili verde was great. Try it over a tamale.

Los Tres Chiles is a fantastic find that I wish I had tried sooner!! I'm not sure why I haven't found my way to Tres Chiles before but was fortunate enough to eat there for the first time this last weekend drawn in by a coupon and their already low prices. All of the appetizers (warm beans, red and green salsa with chips- on the house) were the perfect start to the meal. The salsas were not overly vinegary and had a moderate amount of spice. I ordered a Combo- cheese enchilada with salsa roja, carnitas soft taco, beans and rice. My husband ordered a Combo- all the same but with a carnitas burrito instead of taco. We loved that our entrees came with our choice of soup or salad! Most Mexican restaurants don't offer this and the salads we had were really nice (soup options sounded great too). When our orders arrived, the cheese was warm and gooey- they don't skimp in the cheese enchilada and they use a nicely flavorful cheese. The enchilada sauce, which is often a miss at other places, was perfectly flavored and balanced, and the beans (my favorite part) were silky rich perfection. My husband and I both really liked the rice as well (his favorite part, not usually mine- but I give a big thumbs up!) I could write a whole review based on the Carnitas alone but I will leave it to this: Must Try!!!! The staff was friendly and hospitable and, long story short (ha ;) ) Los Tres Chiles has become one of my new favorites!!

Great addition to BV. Food was great from the 2 types of salsa ,bean dip, chips, awesome Tortilla soup, and $3 Negra Modelo pints before the main course... Great food and Friendly service.

We arre so glad that tres chiles is right down the street from us. The fajitas are a must! its new so not many people know about it so I had to write a yelp review. Great mexican food with really friendly staff. They let us sit outside with our two well behaved dogs. It was great to enjoy our meal with the pups! Get the seafood fajitas if you ever get the chance. They are amazing!

Chips stale. Long time to prepare/serve food that was bland. Chicken Mole recipe needs some serious attention, both in terms of flavor and presentation. Not going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
